I received my copy of the July 2018 Leader yesterday and, as usual, checked the list of articles for those most interesting to me. I practiced for 37 years in a central Connecticut regionalized school district comprising two small towns, which grew from bedroom towns to larger cities. I don’t recall how long the Leader has been published, but I’ve taken more notice of it as my only ASHA publication in my 12 years of retirement.
This issue is by far the most interesting one I’ve scanned. I marked at least a dozen articles to read in their entirety. Thank you! Retirees need to keep their brains active and stimulated. This is a way to do it in our own field. I was drawn by the cover, illustration and article on unbearable sounds because I’ve never heard of misophonia. I’m not too old to learn something new!
Thanks again for a fine publication of articles to which I have responded with comments or for additional information. One example is the work of the Jewish Social Service Agency in the Washington area. In addition to a wide range of services, they provided hearing aids to Holocaust survivors. I wrote to the agency, asked if they accept donations, and have become a donor.
Karen J. Ostby, Meriden, Connecticut

Thank you for your kind words. We’re glad you continue to find the Leader valuable in retirement.
