The ASHA Convention is one of the largest in-person opportunities for audiologists and speech-language pathologists to earn professional development hours (PDHs) or ASHA continuing education units (CEUs). You can earn up to 2.65 ASHA CEUs or 26.75 PDHs over the three official days of the convention and, if you attend pre-convention activities, up to 3.05 ASHA CEUs or 30.5 PDHs.
Any session that has a four-digit session number—including ticketed pre-convention symposia and workshops—carries CE credit.
To earn the maximum credits, you must use every moment of scheduled CE-eligible programming—and fill in all gaps with poster presentations. This schedule may be challenging—it requires very careful planning, comfortable walking shoes and plenty of coffee.
On Thursday, you can earn 7.75 PDHs: Attend an oral seminar or technical session during every time block (6 PDHs) and use all scheduled break times to attend poster/e-poster sessions or hands-on labs (up to 1.75 more PDHs). Scheduled breaks allow for up to seven 15-minute poster sessions.
On Friday, you can earn 9 PDHs: Attend an oral seminar or technical session during every time block (7 PDHs) and visit poster/e-poster sessions and hands-on labs during all scheduled breaks (2 more PDHs).
On Saturday, you can earn 9.75–10 PDHs (two options): Attend an oral seminar or technical session during every time block (7 PDHs) and visit poster presentations during scheduled breaks (2.75 PDHs); or, attend the five Research Symposium sessions (7 PDHs) and visit poster presentations during scheduled breaks (3 PDHs), as the symposium sessions run on a slightly different schedule that includes more time for poster sessions.
You can earn 4 more PDHs on Wednesday: Attend a pre-convention ticketed workshop (additional fee required) sponsored by the Massachusetts Speech-Language-Hearing Association or by the American Audiology Board of Intraoperative Monitoring (3 PDHs) and, if you are invited, attend the Researcher-Academic Town Meeting (1 PDH).
Keep a record of the four-digit numbers of the sessions you attend. The only way to earn CEUs or PDHs is to enter your activities in the ASHA Learning Center. You may enter your activities after each session, or enter all your activities after the convention, but no later than Dec. 1.
