What’s the state of the professional pipeline in communication sciences and disorders? Academic programs will have the opportunity to help answer that question on July 24, when the 2018 Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Education Survey opens.
More than 300 academic institutions offering undergraduate through PhD programs in CSD are invited to provide key data on CSD education, including information on number of applications, admissions, enrollees and graduates; program capacity; time to degree; and graduates’ first employment. In 2017, 89 percent of the institutions provided this valuable data by completing the survey.
Programs that complete the survey will have select data featured on their EdFind profile, ASHA’s online directory that students can search for information on CSD academic programs. EdFind consistently ranks as one of the most visited pages on the ASHA website and the page most often viewed on mobile devices.
The data are compiled into national and state aggregate reports, as well as trend reports, which present a global view of the pipeline to the professions. Many CSD professionals use the reports to supplement grant applications, inform academic programming decisions, and compare program data across degree types, states and other variables. All reports, including those recently released for the 2016–2017 academic year, are available online.
