Audiology Ranks as Third Least-Stressful Job

Out of more than 200 careers surveyed, audiology is listed as 2018’s third least-stressful job in an annual survey conducted by CareerCast.com, an online job-posting and career advice site.
Audiology, with a stress factor of 7.22, moves up one spot from its fourth least-stressful job listing in 2017. Only hair stylists (#2) and diagnostic medical sonographers (#1) have less stress.
The company also projects a 20-percent growth for the profession and lists the median salary for audiologists at $75,980.
To rank the most and least stressful careers, CareerCast evaluates 11 factors, including required travel, growth potential, deadlines, working in the public eye, competition in the field, physical demands, environmental conditions, occupational hazards, risk to one’s own or others’ lives, and meeting or interacting with the public at large.
As a comparison, the top three most-stressful jobs are third-place airline pilot (with a stress rating of 61.07); second-place firefighter (72.43 rating); and the most stressful job, enlisted military personnel (72.47 rating).
