The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation is accepting applications from master’s and doctoral students in communication sciences and disorders (CSD).

New Century Scholars Doctoral Scholarships
Deadline: May 9
Up to 15 scholarships of $10,000 each will be awarded to U.S. doctoral students committed to a teacher-investigator career. Selection criteria include the applicant’s potential for doctoral study and ability to complete a research doctoral program.
Graduate Student Scholarships
Deadline: May 23
Up to 15 scholarships of $5,000 each are available for master’s and doctoral (research or clinical) students who demonstrate academic achievement and promise.
Applicants must be accepted to or enrolled in a full-time CSD graduate program in the U.S. and not have received prior ASHFoundation funding.
In 2018, this competition includes four special scholarship categories:
  • International Student Scholarship—for non-U.S.-citizen international students studying in the United States, supported by the Kala Singh Memorial Fund.

  • Minority Student Scholarship—for students who are members of a racial or ethnic minority group and U.S. citizens, supported by the Minority Scholarship Fund.

  • NSSLHA Scholarship—for undergraduate seniors who are members of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association and who will begin graduate study in fall 2018, supported by the NSSLHA Scholarship Fund.

  • Student With a Disability Scholarship—for students with a disability.

Student Research Grants in Audiology and Early Childhood Language Development
Deadline: May 23
Grants of $2,000 each will be awarded for student-initiated research studies in two areas: new research in clinical or rehabilitative audiology (supported by the Ira M. Ventry and Brad M. Friedrich Memorial Funds) and new research in early childhood language development (supported by the Arlene and Noel Matkin Memorial Fund).
