The ASHA Leader, November 2017, Vol. 22, 61. doi:10.1044/leader.AN4.22112017.61
The application period for the first of two 2018 Leadership Development Programs closes Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. ET.
The program, designed for 30 ASHA-member audiologists and speech-language pathologists, begins April 13. The application period for the second program, designed specifically for school-based SLPs, will open in January 2018.
To be eligible, applicants may have already served on an ASHA or Special Interest Group committee, board, council or ad hoc committee (with the exception of the Board of Directors and chairs of committees, boards and councils). Preference is given to affiliates of Special Interest Groups and past members of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association.
The yearlong program kicks off with an opening workshop at the ASHA national office, and continues over the course of a year with multiple webinars. Participants identify and develop a learning project and participate in a learning team with program peers.
In identifying and developing a learning project, each participant applies the leadership techniques and personal development goals established during the program. The project may focus on the workplace or on a community or other volunteer organization.
The program for school-based professionals will kick off in July in conjunction with the 2018 ASHA Connect conference in Baltimore.
