I just want to say how refreshing it was to see several articles in the June 2017 ASHA Leader on confronting burnout, finding balance and staying motivated in our jobs. When I talk with my speech-language pathologist friends outside of work, these are the things that we talk about.
I love learning about new treatment methods, research and other relevant news from our field. However, we pour so much time into our clients that it’s easy to neglect our own needs, which are just as relevant. I believe that being open about the difficult aspects of our profession and fostering ongoing self-care are key in remaining healthy, effective and excited about the work we do.
It would be great to see The ASHA Leader publish articles addressing these topics on a regular basis!
Thanks again.
