ASHFoundation Fundraiser in the Spotlight
Belasco TheatreThursday, Nov. 9, 7:30–9:30 p.m.
Transport yourself to another time and immerse yourself in this restored theater’s rich and diverse history, all while focusing on the big picture of philanthropy for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation.
This fundraising reception features an array of light refreshments in a unique landmark. The Belasco Theatre—a relic of the 1920s—maintains much of its original fusion of Churriguersque, Spanish Renaissance, Moorish and Gothic details. Fundraiser attendees will enjoy an evening of celebration as they help advance the next generation of innovators and change the lives of people with communication disorders.
Proceeds support the ASHFoundation’s programs and spark innovation. Purchase tickets ($100) on the convention registration form or by calling 877-585-6005.
Founders Breakfast at L.A. Icon
Millennium Biltmore Los Angeles, Friday, Nov. 10, 6:45–8:30 a.m.
The construction of the opulent Millennium Biltmore Hotel in 1923 was a “statement to the rest of the world that Los Angeles had arrived as an American metropolis,” according to its builder, hotels magnate John McEntee Bowman. “Its impact was undeniable and its grandeur would become an integral part of the history of the city,” says Kimberly Truhler, Discover Los Angeles blogger. These words are etched in the history of this famous hotel, the setting for celebrations for Hollywood luminaries and the original Oscars ceremonies in the 1930s and 1940s.
In 2017, this iconic hotel will host the ASHFoundation’s annual awarding of charitable funds to innovators in communication sciences and disorders. The Founders Breakfast, which celebrates high-achieving scholars and generous donors, is an opportunity to connect to a unique history for everyone who loves architectural artistry, the nostalgia of bygone film days, and the allure of present-day celebrations.
Donors at the Founders level (at least $100) and higher will be recognized for their generosity and will receive an invitation with program highlights. Tickets ($40) can be purchased only through the invitation response card and are not available onsite. To receive a Founders Breakfast invitation, become an ASHFoundation donor by Sept. 30. For more information or to give, contact the ASHFoundation office at 301-296-8704.
