The ASHA Board of Directors recently voted to:
  • Amend Article XII of the ASHA bylaws to provide recognition of up to two state speech-language-hearing associations that represent the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology.

  • Re-establish the Ad Hoc Committee on the Next Generation for a two-year term to provide ongoing insight and assistance with implementation of the committee’s recommendations.

  • Revise the Board of Ethics Practices and Procedures guidelines.

  • Accept the update to the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Foundation’s Clinical Practice Guideline: Earwax (Cerumen Impaction).

  • Become a sponsor of the fifth annual Johns Hopkins Critical Care Rehabilitation Conference (Nov. 3–5, 2016), which brings together speech-language pathologists, physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation assistants, respiratory therapists, nurses and other health care professionals.

  • Appoint Patricia Chute, Shanda Brashears, Patti Soloman-Rice, Barbara Moore, Jo Puntil-Sheltman and Jason Milne to the Council for Clinical Certification.
