The 17th annual Minority Student Leadership Program (MSLP) will bring together 40 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral communication sciences and disorders students representing 33 programs throughout the country.
Chosen from 214 applicants, the student leaders will participate in a five-day program during the 2016 ASHA Convention in Philadelphia. They will learn how ASHA members govern the association, how leaders effect change and how the association works. The MSLP also offers the chance to network with ASHA leaders, university faculty and clinicians—as well as MSLP alumni and other young leaders—to learn about educational and career opportunities and resources to move their careers forward.
In addition to educational programming and activities to build and enhance their leadership skills, the group will participate in a leadership seminar with the Executive Board of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association. MSLP participants will also prepare and deliver a three-minute presentation to ASHA leaders advocating on a current professional issue.
