Nominations for four positions on ASHA’s 2017–2019 Board of Directors are open through Dec. 2.
The same nominating period is open for 19 seats on the Audiology Advisory Council and 17 positions on the Speech-Language Pathology Advisory Council.
The term of office for all positions in Jan. 1, 2017, to Dec. 31, 2019.
Board of Directors
“Nominations require your thoughtful attention, as they set the stage for the leadership of your professional community today and tomorrow,” says Elizabeth McCrea, chair of the 2015 Committee on Nominations and Elections. “When you participate in the nomination process, you contribute to the strength and advancement of the professions of audiology and speech-language pathology, which benefit all of our members.”
Nominees should be ASHA members who have a willingness to engage in active deliberation, leadership skills that will advance ASHA’s strategic plan, and a commitment to addressing the professional needs of audiologists and speech-language pathologists.
The open positions on the Board are:
  • President-elect (one year each as president-elect, president and past president)

  • Vice president for academic affairs in audiology

  • Vice president for planning

  • Vice president for standards and ethics in speech-language pathology

Advisory Councils
Are you, or is someone you know, interested in serving on an advisory council? Consider nominating an ASHA member who:
  • Is interested in advising and supporting the work of ASHA’s Board of Directors.

  • Enjoys taking part in active discussion on critical professional issues.

  • Is willing to volunteer time and talent to advance the professions.

  • Lives in a state with an open advisory council seat (see below).

Nominate yourself or that member for open positions on the Audiology Advisory Council or the Speech-Language Pathology Advisory Council. Self-nominations are permitted and strongly encouraged. Submit nominations at www.asha.org/about/governance.
