Audiologists have until Dec. 4 to apply for the first of ASHA’s two 2016 leadership development programs.
The program will select 30 ASHA-member audiologists—with preference given to affiliates of Special Interest Groups and past members of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association—to participate in a day-long workshop at the national office in Rockville, Maryland, on April 8, 2016.
After the workshop, the program continues for a year remotely with multiple webinars. Those in the program identify and develop a learning project and participate on a learning team with program peers.
By identifying and developing a learning project, each participants applies the leadership techniques and personal development goals established during the program. The project may focus on the workplace or on a community or other volunteer organization.
Applicants may not have prior service on an ASHA or Special Interest Group committee, board, council or ad hoc committee.
A second program—for health care professionals—will kick off in July in conjunction with the 2016 ASHA Health Care and Business Institute in Minneapolis. The application period for that program will open in January 2016. Details will follow in a future issue.
