The draft document “Scope of Practice in Speech-Language Pathology” is available for peer review. Developed by the Ad Hoc Committee on the Scope of Practice in Speech-Language Pathology, the document delineates areas of professional practice and informs others—health care providers, educators, consumers, payers, regulators and the public—about professional roles and responsibilities of qualified providers.
The document supports speech-language pathologists in the provision of high-quality, evidence-based services to people with communication, feeding and/or swallowing concerns and in the conduct and dissemination of research, while guiding the educational preparation and professional development of SLPs to provide safe and effective clinical services.
Read and review the document by Oct. 16. To receive a copy of the proposed document and peer review form, contact the ASHA Action Center, 800-498-2071.
