As a speech-language professional and citizen, I have concluded that single-payer health care, as laid out in H.R. 676, is the best and only way out of our current health care mess. This is why I have joined Physicians [and allied health professionals] for a National Healthcare Plan (PNHP) and have founded Speech-Language Pathologists for Single Payer (SPSP). My hope is to begin a dialogue with like-minded colleagues to determine what role we should be playing in working for affordable, high-quality, equitable, and feasible health care for all. Every other industrialized nation has it, why not us? If you are interested in lending your voice and talent to this cause, please contact me at slp4sp@gmail.com. You can read all about single payer on the PNHP Web site.
