“Autism in Love,” a feature-length documentary that explores the lives of four adults on the autism spectrum as they pursue and manage romantic relationships, was selected to premiere in the world documentary feature competition at last month’s Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
According to the film’s website, the features of autism spectrum disorder jeopardize the core characteristics of a relationship—communication and social interaction. The filmmakers, however, tell the stories of four adults with ASD who fall in love and have meaningful romantic relationships.
Director Matt Fuller examines the reality of adulthood with autism and shows how the members of this often-misunderstood community cope with the challenge of keeping romance alive.
