The July/August issue of ASHA Access Audiology focuses on central auditory processing and the Common Core State Standards. “The Core” comprises standards for math and English language arts, including reading, writing, speaking, listening and language use. Students with central auditory processing deficits, however, may have difficulties with these skills. By improving students’ sensory processing foundation, speech-language pathologists and audiologists can help students reduce functional performance gaps in related language and learning skills and achieve the standards in speaking and listening.
