Given the overwhelming number of apps available, how can clinicians and parents select one that most fits the individual needs of the child? On her blog “Speech Therapy for Autism,” SLP Lois Jean Brady offers a Quick Feature Matching Checklist that helps parents and clinicians assess the usefulness of a particular app based on the user’s characteristics, environment and abilities.
Brady’s checklist includes a number of app features including animation, photo personalization, remote prompting, required motor skills, data and tracking, voice output, customization, self-monitoring, sound and visual on/off, share/e-mail, and price. With the newly updated tool, users wade through the plethora of choices to find the most suitable app(s) for their child’s needs.
