Students completing a master’s or doctoral program in 2014 can take advantage of two ways to get more out of their first-year ASHA memberships—for less.
NSSLHA-to-ASHA conversion discount
Students graduating this year who have held national membership in the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association in 2013 and 2014 are eligible for the conversion discount on their first-year ASHA dues. This discount, exclusive to students that have maintained two or more consecutive years of national membership with NSSLHA, offers $225 off first-year ASHA membership and certification fees.
‘Gift to the Grad’ program
Any graduate can take advantage of ASHA’s Gift to the Grad program, which provides up to 20 months of ASHA membership to students who apply for membership and certification from May 1 through Aug. 31. This program rewards those who convert to ASHA membership immediately after graduation, and gives new graduates access to ASHA’s benefits and services during their clinic fellowship or externship.
Smooth transition
The ASHA website offers a number of resources to help students transition smoothly into the professional world:
Individual help
Students and graduates who have questions can call the ASHA Action Center before submitting membership and certification applications. An Action Center specialist can help a graduate determine discount eligibility, verify the certification of a clinical supervisor, or confirm that student’s deadline for membership and certification application. Action Center specialists are available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. (ET), at 800-498-2071.
