Recognizing that the decisions made in Congress today will leave a lasting impact for years to come, the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association and ASHA will sponsor Student Hill Day/Virtual Advocacy Day on April 7.
NSSLHA chapters and students from every state will join together to petition Congress on issues related to audiology and speech-language pathology—including student loan and debt forgiveness, recognizing SLPs and audiologists as service providers under federal literacy and reading legislation and programs, and comprehensive audiology Medicare coverage. Students from around the country are encouraged to log on to ASHA’s Take Action site to take part in this united effort to ensure the future vitality of the professions.
Participation takes about three minutes. Just because you are not in Washington, D.C., does not mean you can’t make a difference. With so many competing interests on Capitol Hill, audiology and speech-language pathology students need to speak out and be heard so that their interests are not forgotten.

Remember that participating in Student Hill Day/Virtual Advocacy Day counts toward one of the requirements for NSSLHA Chapter Honors (on.asha.org/chap-honors).
