ASHA is accepting applications for the 2013 Minority Student Leadership Program, designed to enhance the leadership skills of students in communication sciences and disorders.
The MSLP is held in conjunction with the annual ASHA convention. The 2013 program will take place Nov. 12–16 in Chicago.
The MSLP is open to CSD undergraduate seniors and master's students, AuD students and PhD students, and is designed to recruit and retain racial/ethnic minorities historically under-represented in CSD. Students participate in focused programs and activities to build and enhance their leadership skills and understanding of association governance and operations. Since 1999, more than 450 students from racial/ethnic minority backgrounds have participated in MSLP.
All students are eligible to apply; preference is given to students from under-represented backgrounds. Those selected receive complimentary registration to the ASHA convention, up to five nights' lodging, a meal stipend, and program materials. Participants are responsible for transportation and personal expenses.
To apply, students must complete the online application form and submit an essay, resume, letter of support and statement of good standing. The deadline for submitting applications is May 6; successful applicants will be notified in September.
For more information and the online application form, go to MSLP FAQs page or e-mail mslp@asha.org.
