A subcommittee of the ASHA Board of Directors that includes board members and staff will prioritize—and assign groups to enact—the recommendations of 70 health care experts who convened for ASHA’s October summit on “The Changing Health Care Landscape.”
The summit explored how changes in health care from fee-for-service to pay-for-performance and value-based delivery will affect speech-language pathologists and audiologists (“A ’sea Change𠄙 in Health Care Reimbursement,” Oct. 30, 2012, Leader).
The summit sought to identify ways that ASHA constituencies can keep pace with health care reform via professional preparation, member and interprofessional education, information dissemination, and national databases that can be used to inform quality improvement and payment systems and to drive evidence-based practice.
The executive summary from the summit is available at our health care reform page. More information will be shared at state conventions, national meetings, on the ASHA website and through other means.
